SWAMPSCOTT (Videos – Photos) The Peabody Tanners girls basketball team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 57-43 win over Swampscott (3-3) on Tuesday night. The Tanners built a 13-point in the 2nd quarter (28-15) however from that point on the Big Blue played tough defense and they were able to close the lead to 3-points in the second half (35-32). Peabody led at the half (31-23). Peabody scoring leaders included: Logan Lomasney (19), Sophia Coburn (10), Abby Bettencout (9), Allyson Bettencourt (8). Peabody’s Olivia Gaynor came off the bench and scored 5 points, all in the second half. Swampscott High School was led by Samantha Ward (15) and Olivia Quagrello (13).
Peabody will return to action on Friday night at Salem (6). Up next for Swampscott, they will host Danvers on Friday night. (6:30).
