RAISE A THUNDERCLAP AND JOIN THE GLOBAL CAMPAIGN!

On Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 12:30 pm at City Hall, Gloucester will join with activists from around the world for ONE BILLION RISING, the largest action in the history of V-Day, the global activist movement to bring an end to violence against women and girls

ONE BILLION RISING began as a call to action based on the statistic that

1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime.

With the world population at 7 billion

this adds up to more than one billion girls and women.

On February 25, Mayor Sefatia Romeo-Theken will lead our cry for justice, and our resolution that Gloucester will not look the other way, and that we will continue to seek justice for victims and survivors of abuse.

Mayor Sefatia Romeo-Theken notes:

“Domestic abuse and sexual assault are crimes that too often remain hidden.

ONE BILLION RISING is your opportunity to break the silence and speak out and express outrage at the number of girls and women who endure this injustice.”

Bring pots, pans and noisemakers to demand change
