PEABODY – The Peabody Tanners (3-2 overall, 2-2 in NEC North) scored touchdowns on all 6 of its possessions tonight to down the Lynn English Bulldogs (1-4 overall, 0-4 in NEC North) by a score of 41-8.
Peabody senior QB Matt D’Amato (9/12 for 124 yards) went to the air in the first quarter firing touchdown strikes to Eric DeMayo (13 yd TD), Jake Doherty (8 yd TD) and to Doherty again (from 34 yds) to propel the Tanners to a 21-0 lead after the first 11minutes.
In the second quarter, Doherty scored on runs of 3 yards and 17 yards to increase the Peabody lead to 35-0 at the half.
Each team had one possession in the second half: Peabody put together a 16 play, 60 yard touchdown drive finished off by a 1 yard run from Nick Palma for the only possession of the 3rd; and Lynn English quarterback Matt Severance finished off a 13 play, 60 scoring drive with a 10 yard keeper in the 4th.
Peabody’s offense totaled 252 yards while the Tanners defense held the Bulldogs to 101 yards of total offense.
Peabody travels to Danvers next week; Lynn English plays at Marblehead
