Lynn’s Santa Parade rolls through the city tonight, parade route and times, posted below. A Coast Guard cutter is home for the holidays, arriving yesterday in Boston and we have two photos from local political leaders. Also, Salem Police say, “thank-you”, details below.

The Patriots host the New York Jets today at 1 p.m. – Hopefully Tom Brady will be more effective on the field today than he was in this video.

LYNN TRAFFIC ALERT – CHRISTMAS EVE PARADE

The parade will begin at 5pm from Austin Sq. and follow the traditional route. See the detailed route and estimated times of arrival below. Please note that parade participants will begin to gather on Summer St. at 3:30pm. Summer St. will be closed to traffic from Austin Sq. to Raddin Grove Ave. prior to 4pm and continuing until the parade procession leaves the area following the start of the parade at 5pm.

Salem Police say “thank-you” for a generous donation

$10,000.00

That is the amount Mr. William “Twig” Burke donated earlier this week to the Salem Police Officers so they could help some of the less fortunate people of our City. In an email outlining his idea he wrote “I have been fortunate to operate a business in Salem, Ma for the past 25 years and always respected the men in blue. I have been disappointed with recent developments around the Country where respect has come into question regarding law enforcement. I thought t…his might be a good program to help show the positive side of you and your fellow Salem officers.while making Christmas just a little nicer for those less fortunate”.

Well Mr. Burke, your generosity HAS made a difference, not only for many families and individuals in Salem, but it has also had genuine effect on our officers and morale. We can gladly report that all of your donation has been distributed by our officers to the truly needy, and we hope that by your action it sparks others to do the same.

Coast Guard Cutter Escanaba home for the holidays

BOSTON — U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Escanaba returned home Friday after a 65-day patrol in the North Atlantic.

The 100-member crew was tasked with enforcing federal and international fishery laws as well as conducting homeland security operations.

The crew of the Escanaba conducted 61 living marine resource boardings ensuring the sustainability of resources in the North Atlantic. They also coordinated with Station Southwest Harbor and Maine Marine Patrol to conduct safety operations among the northeast lobster fleet.

During their patrol, the Escanaba also conducted a search and rescue operation for three people aboard the sailing vessel Allego Vela. The vessel struck a submerged object and needed assistance. After finding the vessel, the Escanaba transported the three people and the vessel safely back to Boston.

“We conducted quality boardings and rescued three people in distress,” said Cmdr. Patrick Peschka, commanding officer of the Escanaba. “The crew should be extremely proud of what they have accomplished over the past two months.”
