Interview with Ira Proctor – Comedian Performing at Cabot Theater Saturday 2/27

Comedy at the Cabot returns Feb. 27 in Beverly

Comedy at The Cabot returns to the new, remodeled Cabot Performing Arts Center (formerly the Cabot Cinema), 286 Cabot Street, Beverly on Saturday, February 27. Presented in partnership with Beverly-based Scamps Comedy Productions, the show features a great ensemble mix of Boston’s funniest comedians including rising star Dan Boulger, former Betty Crocker Award winner Dave Decker, crowd-pleasing headliner Ira Proctor, and radio personality/actor Chris Zito.
Doors open at 7 for the 8 p.m. show. Tickets are $22, available on line at TheCabot.org or at The Cabot during evening business hours. Beer and wine is available on show nights.
Dan Boulger has appeared twice on CBS’s The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, and BBC America’s World Stands Up. The Boston Comedy Festival winner has performed at the prestigious HBO Comedy Festival in Aspen, Colorado and in A-list clubs, theaters and colleges around the country. He was named a “comic to watch” by The Boston Globe. That’s very impressive for a comic who grew up idolizing the standup of Steven Wright, Mitch Hedberg and Todd Barry, and began his career shortly after graduating from high school in 2004.
Winner of the coveted 1975 Betty Crocker Award, Dave Decker brings his distinct point of view to the stage in a way that both engages and charms audiences. Decker has performed at clubs from Boston to New York City, and theaters such as the Shea Theater in Turners Falls, The Colonial in Keene, N.H., and the Ioka Theater in Exeter, N.H. His intelligent and clever humor makes him one of Boston’s comedians to watch.
Ira Proctor is a crowd pleaser who has traveled from Boston to Las Vegas to Afghanistan performing comedy. He has appeared at the Montreal Comedy Festival, on The Today Show, and the NESN Comedy All-Stars. The Boston winner of Sierra Mist’s “Next Great Comic Search” has appeared on ABC’s Inside Edition, Fox News, and in commercials for Comedy Central, Diet Pepsi, Harvey Windows and Bob’s Stores.
Chris Zito has spent the last 32 years sharing hilarious and insightful observations with live comedy fans and radio listeners all over the country. Known to many for his stints hosting highly-rated morning shows on WXLO in Worcester, 103.3 WODS in Boston, and as the comic relief on the popular “JR in the Morning Show” on WZOU in Boston, he’s also done drive-time duty on Detroit radio and is currently one half of the morning drive team Zito & Kera at Mix 93.1 FM in Springfield. In recent years, he’s also ventured into acting, with a sizeable role in the Larry David HBO comedy Clear History. He’s also appeared on Comedy Central, A&E, The USA Network and NESN. Clean, funny, and upbeat, Zito delights audiences with his look at family, marriage, and the how much childhood has changed.
