America Recycles Zero Waste Weekend – Danvers Event
Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 9:00 AM
to Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 1:00 PM

Since 1997, communities across the country have come together on November 15 to celebrate America Recycles Day.  More than a celebration, America Recycles Day is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to the promotion of recycling programs in the United States.  People around the country will celebrate recycling in a special way during this month.

In Danvers, we are celebrating by offering residents a two day event where they can recycle a variety of items not collected by curbside pickup!  Recycle outside of the bin!  The Town of Danvers Department of Public Works’ Zero Waste Recycling Weekend will be held on October 22 and 23, 2016 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the High School parking lot at 60 Cabot Road.  This event is co-sponsored by Big Brother Big Sister Foundation, Big Hearted Books, JRM and XTechnology Global.

Residents may bring bagged clothing, shoes, purses, linens, stuffed animals and small toys for Big Brother Big Sister Foundation.  XTechnology Global will collect electronics including TVs and computer monitors ($15 each up to 20 inches—measure diagonally, $25 anything larger than 20 inches); air conditioners, computers, laptops and dehumidifiers ($5 each); stereos and VCRs ($3 each).  Cell phones and all other small electronics are free.  Certificates of Destruction are also available ($5 each).  XTech will donate a portion of the money collected to the Danvers Community Council.

Big Hearted Books will be collecting books, DVDs, CDs, audio books and records – no VHS tapes, cassette tapes, magazines or encyclopedias please.  JRM will shred up to 2 boxes of your confidential papers for free (there is a $5.00 charge for subsequent boxes).  JRM will donate all money collected to the Danvers Community Council.

Metal items (file cabinets, grills, bicycles, hangers, appliances, patio furniture, curtain rods, doors, ironing boards, ladders, etc.) will be collected for recycling by the Town of Danvers.  JRM will also be collecting rigid plastics (trash barrels, buckets, tubs, bins, outdoor furniture, toys, etc.).

Cub Scout Packs 16 & 155 will be collecting redeemable bottles & cans ALL WEEKEND.
If you have questions, please refer to the Events section of the Public Works page on the Town of Danvers’ website at www.danversma.gov or contact the DPW at 978-777-0001 x3011. We’re also on Facebook and Twitter at Danvers DPW.  Danvers Recycles – together we can make a difference!!
