Rockport Music Announces Rockport Chamber Music Festival, Jazz Festival and other Summer concerts

Rockport Music is proud to announce its summer of concerts and festivals, including the 36th Annual Rockport Chamber Music Festival, the Rockport Jazz Festival and the Summer at Rockport series of pop, folk and world music concerts.

The Chamber Music Festival opens in a Gala concert with the world renowned violinist Joshua Bell on Friday, June 2.  The Gala event will celebrate 22 years of David Deveau as artistic director, as this is his farewell season in the role.  The Festival continues through July 9 with over 22 concerts and education activities, and includes performances by pianists Garrick Ohlsson and Joyce Yang, the Jupiter, Brentano and Jasper quartets, as well as the Canadian Brass and the Handel and Haydn Society.  The Festival also features 2 world premieres, and concludes in a collaborative program including both our current Artistic Director David Deveau and the incoming Artistic Director Designate Barry Shiffman.

The Rockport Jazz Festival this year is August 6-13 and is a thrilling week of jazz featuring the brilliant jazz

guitarist John Pizzarelli and pianist Daniel Jobim in a Sinatra-Jobim Tribute, Danilo Pérez Revisiting Panamonk, as well as the innovative pianist Fred Hersch, Grammy Award winning jazz vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant, and much more.

The “Summer at Rockport” series of folk, pop and jazz concerts will bring such icons as Chris Smither and Jim Messina, as well as folk legend Maceo Parker and the Cajun band BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet.  Also coming this summer is 90’s alternative-folk artist Lisa Loeb and folk-rock artist Martin Sexton.  Celtic music concerts won’t be missed this summer with concerts by Cherish the Ladies and Celtic-duo Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas.

Two listings are attached—one for the Rockport Chamber Music Festival and the other for the Rockport Jazz Festival and Summer at Rockport.  All concerts and events are held at Rockport Music’s stunning, seaside Shalin Liu Performance Center at 37 Main Street, Rockport, Massachusetts. Subscriptions are available for purchase March 30 and subscribers receive a 10% discount with purchase of 5-9 concerts and 15% with purchase of 10 or more concerts.  All subscribers are eligible for exchange privileges and purchasing additional concerts without additional handling fees.  Single concert tickets go on sale April 18.
