Moulton Takes on New Leadership Positions in 115th Congress to Advance Bipartisanship

Moulton: “From spurring job creation in our communities to tackling climate change, we have our work cut out for us”

Washington, D.C. – Today, the Office of Congressman Seth Moulton (D-MA) announced that Moulton has taken on three new leadership positions in the 115th Congress to sharpen Democrats’ vision, advance bipartisanship, and focus attention on issues important to the next generation. Moulton will serve as Senior Whip to the Second Highest Ranking Democrat in Congress, House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD), Vice Chair of the Bipartisan Working Group, and was elected Vice Policy Chair of the Future Forum.

“I’m honored to take on these new positions because we have a lot of work to do for our country,” said Moulton. “From spurring job creation in our communities to tackling climate change, we have our work cut out for us, but these groups are taking a leading role in the effort to move our country forward. I was elected to Congress to find areas for common ground and implement bipartisan solutions, so I look forward to continuing to do that, making progress on the issues that matter most to the next generation, and conveying our Party’s vision to the country.”

As Senior Whip to Congressman Hoyer, Moulton will be a leading voice on the vision of the Democratic Party in a GOP-controlled Congress and under a Trump Administration. Moulton came to Congress to find meaningful areas for common ground, from improving access to veteran health care to curbing gun violence. As Vice Chair of the Bipartisan Working Group, Moulton will continue to promote bipartisan leadership and spearhead bipartisan legislation. The Future Forum is a group of young, Democratic lawmakers focused on issues that matter most to the next generation, from student debt to millennial entrepreneurship. Moulton was elected by his peers to serve as Vice Policy Chair of this group.

“Since coming to the Congress in 2015, Rep. Moulton has drawn on his experience serving our country in the military and working in the private sector to champion policies that keep America safe and help grow our economy,” said House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer. “I’ve been proud to work with him to advance House Democrats’ goals to make jobs and opportunity more accessible, and I look forward to having him join my whip team for the 115th Congress as Democrats fight for working families and work to represent the plurality of Americans who did not vote for Donald Trump or the Republican agenda.”

“Seth has been an active and vocal member of the Bipartisan Working Group since becoming a member of Congress,” said Bipartisan Working Group Co-Chair Jim Renacci. “I look forward to continue working with him in his new role as the Vice Chair and working on the important issues facing this country.”

“It’s an honor to be working with Representative Moulton in his new role as Vice Chair of the Bipartisan Working Group,” said Bipartisan Working Group Co-Chair Derek Kilmer. “He’s helped our group engage in respectful conversations about the big issues impacting Americans. He is a valuable leader in the effort to get our economy — and this Congress — back on track.”
