February North Shore Student Athlete Male Winner – Lynn Jets Goaltender Jack Stafford

NORTH SHORE – (Radio) For their exploits both in the classroom and in their respective athletic endeavors, boys hockey standout Jack Stafford of the Lynn Jets and swimming star Sarah Welch of Beverly High and have been named the Moynihan Lumber Student-Athletes of the Month for February. Stafford, a junior goaltender for the combined Lynn Public Schools hockey team known as the ‘Jets’, was named Most Valuable Player of the Northeastern Conference this winter after leading his team to a second place finish in the NEC South division, one point behind Gloucester. He finished the season with 14 wins, a 1.29 goals against average, a .948 save percentage and posted six shutouts. The Lynn Classical student takes honors classes and carries a 3.0 grade point average. He made the honor roll for the first quarter of the 2015-16 school year and gets rave reviews from his teachers for his class participation and being an excellent student and role model.

The North Shore Student Athlete Award is sponsored by Moynihan Lumber in conjunction with media partners: The Salem News, The Gloucester Times, The Newburyport Daily News, (Lynn) Daily Item, MSOnewsports.com and North Shore 104.9 FM. One male and one female monthly winner will be selected as Student Athlete of the Year and be honored at a luncheon in June. The yearly winners will also receive a scholarship.
