North Reading Firefighters Extinguishes Multi-Vehicle Fire – 6 Cars Damaged – 2 People Injured

NORTH READING — Chief Don Stats reports that the North Reading Fire Department responded to and extinguished a multi-vehicle fire on Thursday morning.

On Thursday, Dec. 12, at 10:53 a.m., North Reading Fire was dispatched to 300 Riverpark Drive for reports of multiple cars on fire in the parking lot of a business.

North Reading Engine 3 was first on scene, and members immediately began an aggressive attack on the fire. Engine 1, Engine 2, Ladder 1, and Rescue 1 arrived on scene a short time later to assist as the fire appeared to be spreading to other vehicles.

The fire was brought under control at 11:10 a.m.

Wilmington Fire provided mutual aid at the scene and Reading and Middleton Fire Departments provided station coverage.

Two individuals were transported to a local hospital for injuries that are believed to be non-life threatening.

As a result of the fire at least 6 cars were significantly damaged.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by North Reading Fire and Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
