North Reading Fire Department Responds to Two Alarm Fire Overnight

NORTH READING — Chief Don Stats reports that members of the North Reading Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire at a home early Saturday morning.

On Saturday, June 1, at approximately 2:40 a.m., North Reading Fire Department was notified of a possible structure fire at 4 Canterbury Lane.

The first company, Engine 3 crewed by Capt. Brian Nash and Firefighters CJ Hadley, Tyler Samost and Steve Yobaccio, arrived at the scene at 2:44 a.m., and discovered heavy fire in a two-story garage attached to a large home.

Companies made an aggressive exterior attack on the fire to knock it down initially, and then attacked the fire from inside the home to get it knocked down by about 3:11 a.m.

The fire was contained to the area of the home’s two-story garage. There were no reported injuries.

Mutual aid was provided by Middleton, Lynnfield, Reading, Wilmington, Andover, North Andover, Tewksbury, and Danvers firefighters at the scene.

Firefighters from Peabody and Stoneham covered North Reading Headquarters.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the North Reading Fire Department with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
