NEWBURYPORT — Fire Chief Stephen Bradbury III reports that the Newburyport Fire Department extinguished a solar panel fire at a single-family home Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday, Nov. 19 at approximately 8:46 a.m., Newburyport Fire responded to 247 Merrimack St. for reports that smoke was showing from a roof.

Upon arrival, crews observed that a solar panel located on the roof of the addition of a single-family home was on fire.

Crews immediately began extinguishing the flames and were able to contain the fire to just the roof of the addition.
