NEWBURYPORT — Fire Chief Stephen Bradbury III reports that the Newburyport Fire Department responded to and extinguished a fire early Monday morning.
On Monday, Jan. 27, at 6:07 a.m. Newburyport Fire responded to ITW ShineMark on Malcolm Hoyt Drive for reports of an alarm box sounding.
Upon arrival crews observed smoke and fire coming from the rear of the building.
The fire appeared to be coming from a commercial boiler that was part of a processing line.
The fire was partially extinguished by workers prior to firefighter arrival.
Crews were able to contain the fire to the boiler. There were no reported injuries.
Mutual aid was provided by Amesbury Fire Ladder Truck, Salisbury Fire, and Cataldo Ambulance. Station coverage was provided by the Seabrook and Newbury Fire Departments.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Newburyport Fire Department.
