LYNN – On Tuesday, Sept. 27th, scenes from the Netflix Movie “The Wheelman” will be filmed in the downtown area. Filming will take place overnight and it will involve a motorcycle driving on downtown streets with simulated gunfire (likely flash only).
This filming will require some parking restrictions, temporary road closures and intermittent traffic control (ITC).
In order to accommodate this filming, the following traffic and parking plan will be implemented:
Date/Time: Tuesday, Sept. 27th to Wednesday, Sept. 28th 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Purpose: Filming driving scenes on city streets with specially equipped motorcycle.
Location: Downtown Area:
Beginning on Union St. @ Joyce St. – down Union St. through Central Sq. to Washington St. to Oxford St. right on to Central Ave. through Central Sq. back on to Union St.
Parking Restrictions: Limited parking restrictions will be implemented along corners so that production vehicles are able to make turns. Parking will be restricted for a distance of approximately 2 car lengths at the designated locations.
Traffic Control: Road closures and Intermittent Traffic Control (ITC) will occur from Midnight to 0600 at the following locations:
- Union St. from Joyce St. to Washington St. – to include the following adjacent side streets: Smith St., School St., Buffum St., Exchange St.
- Washington St. from Oxford St. to Union St.
- Munroe St. from Washington St. to Central Ave.
- Oxford St. from Willow St. to Washington St.
- Central Ave. from Central Sq. to Andrew St.
- Central Sq. no access from Exchange St.
Public Notice: Notice of road closures and parking restrictions will be disseminated through the following means:
- Flyers delivered to residents and businesses in the downtown area at the direction of the Mayor’s office.
- Social media dissemination through the Mayor’s office and the Police Department
