NEC Hockey OnDemand: Peabody (5-2-1, 3-1-1) Defeats Beverly (2-5-2, 1-3-1) 4-0

PEABODY –  The Peabody Tanners shut out the Beverly Panthers to advance to 3-1-1 in the Northeastern Conference North.  Goalie Aaron McDonnell has allowed only 4 goals in 5 league games.  Chris Gillen scored the game winner (assist to Tim January) at 3:51 of the first period.  The Tanners added goals from Owen Brewster (his eighth and ninth) and Gillen in the third period to salt the game away.

The game was stopped wth 43 seconds left in the first period after Beverly defenseman Luke Samperi was cut on the left arm  by a skate.   Officials after the game described the injury as “nasty” as the Panthers were forced to go with only three defensive skaters after the injury.   The ice was re-surfaced and then the 43 seconds of time was played before the start of the second period.
