FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Endicott (Commonwealth Coast Conference; CCC), Husson (North Atlantic Conference; NAC), and SUNY New Paltz (SUNYAC) each won their respective conference tournaments to earn an automatic spot in the Regional, while No. 22 Eastern Connecticut received an at-large bid.
- The Gulls are 6-1 in the all-time series against the Husson Eagles. The two teams last met on March 26, 2022, when the Gulls swept a home doubleheader by scores of 14-1 and 14-2.
- SUNY New Paltz had never defeated Cortland on Cortland’s home field, but did so twice Sunday, 11-3 and 15-11, to claim the program’s first ever SUNYAC title.
- The Gulls feature the top pitching staff and defense in all of Division III heading into the NCAA Regionals. They rank first in Division III in ERA (2.58), WHIP (1.08), and fielding percentage (.981).
- Endicott swept No. 22 Eastern Connecticut, 9-5 and 4-0, back on April 20 this season. TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) hit a go-ahead grand slam in a scoreless ninth to give the Gulls the 4-0 edge over the 2022 National Champs in game two.
