Navigators Hit Home Runs and Get Solid Work From Bullpen For 5-4 Win Over Worcester

LYNN – For the second time this week, the North Shore Navigators walked off with a win by defeating the Worcester Bravehearts,  5-4. The Navigators improve to 8-14 on the season while the Bravehearts fall to 11-14.

The Navigators got off to a hot start opening up a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, as Tyler Kapuscinski (Marist) kicked things off with an RBI single scoring Joey Pena. Alex Brickman’s (St. Petersburg) sacrifice fly increased the Navigator lead to 2-0. Jeff Mejia (Umass Lowell) then scored Kapuscinski on an RBI single.

The Bravehearts were quick to rebound in the top half of the second inning with a John Mazza (Northeastern) RBI single. A Kevin Doody (University of Maine) sacrifice fly and Trevor Johnson (Dartmouth) two run double would give the Bravehearts a 4-3 lead.

Daane Berezo (VCU) evened the score at four in the bottom of the 7th launching his first home run of the summer.

Conor Bawiec (Elmira) and Chris Pennell (St. Thomas Aquinas) carried the Navigators the rest of the way combining for eight innings of shutout ball in relief.

Ultimately in the home run derby, Brickman proved to be the difference yet again for the Navigators cranking two home runs to win it for the Navigators.

The Navigators will head to Nashua on Monday (7/3) and Seacoast on Tuesday (7/4) for a double header before returning back home on Wednesday (7/5) to square off against the Bravehearts.
