City of Gloucester Health Deparment
The CDC recommends that adults 50 and older get two doses of the Shingrix vaccine to prevent shingles and its complications. Adults 19 and older with weakened immune systems should also get two doses. The second dose is given 2 to 6 months after the first.
Clinical trials show that Shingrix is more than 90% effective at preventing shingles and can protect against it for at least seven years.
The Gloucester Health Dept. is offering free Shingrix vaccines, by appointment
