NORTH SHORE – The Northeastern conference began league play this past weekend and Marblehead and Beverly opened with tough wins over strong opponents. Marblehead downed Danvers 30-23 while Beverly needed a second half rally to topple a strong Peabody Tanner team 17-14. MSO’s Harrington Trophy player of week is Sam Paquette, from Marblehead High School. Paquette made all of his point after kicks, saved the game with a strong punt to pinning Danvers at their own 10 yard line late in the game. The previous snap was over his head for a safety, the final snap was on the ground on the pouring rain. Paquette got that important punt away. As the team’s free safety on defense he was one of several key defensive players that delivered a smothering second half defensive effort against Danvers.
