Mid Afternoon Fatal Accident on Route 95 North in Georgetown – State Police Update – Click Here

GEORGETOWN – A Route 95 North crash in Georgetown has resulted in one death, details below in a Massachusett’s State Police reports:

At about 2:30 p.m., State Police from the Newbury Barracks responded to a report of a crash on Route 95 North in Georgetown, which resulted in the death of one occupant.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Matthew Topping indicates that a 2012 Volkswagen was traveling northbound when for reason still under investigation, the operator, a 67-year-old man, lost control of the vehicle and veered right into the breakdown lane. The vehicle continued into the grass, struck a tree and came to rest at the tree line.

The driver was determined to be deceased at the scene. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.

The 63-year-old female passenger was seriously injured and was transported to the Anna Jacques Hospital.

The break down lane remains closed.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.  State Police were assisted on scene by Georgetown Fire and EMS and MA DOT.
