BIDDEFORD, Maine — The Endicott men’s basketball team defeated the University of New England (UNE), 66-63, in conference action on Tuesday night.
Cameron Ray (Lowell, Mass.) led the Gulls with a game-high/career-high 19 points (7-9 FG, 3-5 3PT, 2-2 FT).
Billy Arseneault (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) also produced double-digit efforts (12-10) in the win, while Stephen Fama (Lynnfield, Mass.) rounded out the list of highlights with four points and a season-high 13 boards.
Leading 58-57 with 4:16 to play, the Gulls outscored UNE 8-6 down the stretch to withstand the Nor’easters.
Arseneault converted an and-one with 4:02 remaining (61-57) and Ray followed with a three-pointer at 3:28 for a 64-57 advantage.
From there, UNE had a chance to even up the score at the free throw line with 57 seconds on the clock, but a 1-2 showing at the line kept Endicott in front, 64-63. Both teams proceeded to miss three-pointer opportunities before Arseneault iced the game at the free throw line.
