BEVERLY – The Executive Board of the Massachusetts Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (MACLEA) is pleased to announce that MACLEA and Endicott College hosted training on the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act and the Stop Campus Hazing Act.

On Thursday, Jan. 16, MACLEA teamed up with CriticalArc and the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) at Endicott College to provide the training to about 50 participants from colleges and universities across Massachusetts.

The Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act, passed in 1990, requires colleges and universities to record and report campus crime statistics, and to make all campus safety policies public.

The Stop Campus Hazing Act, passed in 2024, requires colleges and universities to teach students about the dangers of hazing, and to hold organizations that engage in hazing accountable.

“I want to offer a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to all who made our Clery training event a success,” said MACLEA President and Endicott College Police Chief Kerry Ramsdell. “We had the honor of hosting an impactful training event, uniting safety leaders and professionals to advance the conversation on campus safety.”

Speakers at the training included L. Angela Webb and James Lee. Jason Goodrich, Jonathan Kassa and Jim Moore provided training and discussed the role of technology in enhancing safety.

“It’s about campus safety, student wellness, crime prevention and consumer protection; not all about compliance,” said Moore. “Done properly, the Clery Act saves lives.”
