Masconomet Girls Basketball Beats Peabody 58-54 (OT) – Postgame Interviews – Game Notes

PEABODY (Video – Photos) The Masconomet girls basketball (6-4) team scored an exciting overtime win over Peabody 58-54 Friday night. The win avenges an earlier season loss (56-37) at Masconomet. The Lady Chieftains were led by Angie Lalikos (17-points) and Mia Theberge (16-points) Both scoring leaders also rebounded well; Theberge (15) and Lalikos (11). Ava Allen added 11-points for Masco. The Peabody Tanners were led in scoring by Logan Lomasney (19-points) and Ally Bettencourt (15-points). Early in the game Peabody was able to build small leads of 5 to 6 points. In the second quarter the Tanners had a short lived 7-point lead (29-22). Peabody led at the half by 6 (26-20). In the second both teams struggled to score at times, but early in the 4th quarter Masco finally grabbed the lead (40-41). The Tanners led by four points (45-41) with a minute to play in regulation but the Chieftains were able to tie the game and send it to overtime. Masco’s 12-points in OT was enough to win the game.
