During our recent public outreach events, many questions have been asked about our fleet and the purpose of each vehicle so we will spotlight one of our vehicles once a month during Fun Fact Friday to give you a better understanding of our equipment. This month, we’re featuring Car 1, which is assigned to the Fire Chief. Unlike larger city departments with a dedicated chief officer in a command vehicle 24/7/365, the Manchester Fire Chief responds off-duty to any major incident or when simultaneous calls occur. Car 1 was designed with incident command in mind, allowing for operations to take place outside at the rear of the vehicle or inside during significant weather. This vehicle can also be used as a unified command post for the Police Chief and Fire Chief based upon situational needs. Each picture accompanying this spotlight includes a description of the equipment carried within the vehicle.
