Senior Citizen Lock Box Program
The Manchester and Essex Fire Departments are pleased to announce the launch of a residential lockbox program. This initiative aims to provide firefighters with quicker access to seniors and disabled residents during emergencies when they may be unable to reach the door. By utilizing these lockboxes, we can minimize property damage that may occur if responders need to force open doors. More critically, this program saves valuable time in emergency situations by allowing swift access to individuals who may be incapacitated within their homes.
What is a lockbox? A lockbox is a compact, secure metal container that is installed on or near a resident’s door and holds a key to the home. This box is secured with a unique key that only authorized fire department personnel possess. The lockboxes are designed to be safe and durable and will only be accessed in emergencies; at no time will they be available to anyone other than emergency responders.
How does the program work? Residents interested in acquiring a lockbox should complete the application form found here: https://mbtsfire.wpenginepowered.com/senior-lock-box-program/ . Homeowners will need to create a spare key to place inside the lockbox.
What is the cost? Thanks to a grant from the Department of Fire Service, the Manchester and Essex Fire Departments are pleased to offer the lockboxes at no cost while supplies last.
