Lare Sunday Evening Update from DA’s Office
In addition to 25-year-old Abraham Diaz who was shot and killed on September 2, 2023, while attending a gathering on Essex Street in Lynn, 21-year-old Jandriel Heredia of Revere has died from injuries sustained during the same shooting, Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker and Chief Chris Reddy announced Sunday.
At this time there is no new information as to the condition of the five other individuals that sustained injuries.
The case remains under investigation by the Essex County District Attorney’s Office State Police Detective Unit and the Lynn Police Department.
Second Weekend Shooting Death in Lynn
A man was fatally shot in Lynn late Saturday night, Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker and Lynn Police Chief Chris Reddy announced.
The Lynn Police Department received a 911 call at approximately 11:01 p.m. reporting a male party had been shot on Lincoln Street.
Officers responding to that location found a man inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to Salem Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
This is an active investigation, and the name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The shooting is being investigated by members of the Essex County District Attorney’s Office State Police Detective Unit and detectives from the Lynn Police Department. Based on the preliminary investigation, this does not appear to be a random act of violence and is not believed to be related to the September 2nd shootings on Essex Street currently under investigation.

LYNN – At approximately 2:20 a.m., the Lynn Police Department responded to reports of shots fired in the Essex Street area of the city. Responding units found seven victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
All seven were taken to local hospitals, where one individual was pronounced deceased, 2 are in critical condition and four suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The shootings are being investigated by the Essex County District Attorney’s Office State Police Detective Unit and detectives from the Lynn Police Department. Based on the initial investigation, the shootings are not believed to be a random act of violence. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
DA Tucker expressed: “This horrendous act of violence has impacted the families of the victims, the neighborhood, and the entire city. We will expend every resource in pursuit of justice and holding those responsible to be accountable for perpetrating this violence.”
In addition, Chief Reddy stated: “We are committed to bringing those responsible to justice. No family should have to endure the loss of loved ones through senseless violence like this. This needs to stop!”
