Navigators Remain Winless At Home Following 6-0 Loss To Silver Knights – Game Played Wednesday Morning

The North Shore Navigators once again took on the Nashua Silver Knights on Wednesday morning, and it was the fourth meeting between the two teams in the last six days. Playing in front of 3,242 fans on School Field Trip Day, the Navigators were unfortunately not able to get much going in their favor. They ended up falling to the Silver Knights by a final score of 6-0.

Though the Navigators struggled to start the game, they got a great effort from the trio of relievers that they used on the day. The first one to come in the game was Brett Sasse (Nebraska-Omaha). Sasse pitched 2 and 2/3 innings on the day and recorded 3 strikeouts in his brief action. He allowed only one earned run during his action and was generally solid on the mound.

After Sasse’s day was done, the Navigators used Clay Yianacopolus (Assumption College) and Sean O’Neill (Brandeis University) to close out their day. Each pitcher worked one inning and they combined to strikeout one and allow only one hit. They helped to shut down the high powered Silver Knights’ offense late in the game.

Despite having some offensive troubles on the day, the Navigators still got some good performances. Notably, Mack Nathanson (Wofford) looked pretty strong on the day. Nathanson went 2-4 and cracked a massive triple in the ninth inning. He also hit a deep drive in his first at bat that just missed being a home run, as it was caught at the warning track.

Leadoff man Joey Pena (St. Thomas Aquinas) was decent at the plate on Wednesday morning as well. He ended up reaching twice, going 1-3 with a hit and a walk. He managed to raise his batting average to .278 as a result of his strong performance.

The Navigators will return to action on Thursday, June 16 when they play host to the Seacoast Mavericks. First pitch at Fraser is scheduled to be at 7:00 p.m.
