Greater New Bedford Knocks off Danvers 6-2 in MIAA D2 State Final baseball – Videos & Photos – Game Broadcast

BROCKTON – (Radio – Videos – Photos) The Danvers High School baseball suffered a frustrating 6-2 loss at the hands of Greater New Bedford today at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton in the MIAA Division Two state championship game. Danvers rolled through their four previous 2017 playoff games allowing only four runs on strong pitching, playing strong defense, and getting timely hitting. That did not happen today. Greater New Bedford pitched better, they hit the ball better, and they played the field better. Below, in post game comments Danvers coach Roger Day explains how Greater New Bedford was the better team today. Danvers scored two runs in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead, Matt Andreas delivered a two run triple, but after that inning the Danvers bats went silent on the strength of Bear’s pitcher Tylor Arruda. (Complete game win) For Danvers, this was their third straight trip to the state final. Matt Andreas and Loic Dowd had two hits each for the Falcons. Noah Revera, Jared Mathia, and Kevin Santiago had two hits each for Greater New Bedford. Danvers finishes the year at 20-5, Greater New Bedford 19-6. GNB broke the game open with a three run 4th inning as all nine batters came to the plate. Justin Roberto started the game on the mound for Danvers and was relieved by Justin Nadeau who closed out the game.
