MSO Radio OnDemand: High School Hockey – Danvers 4, Winthrop 2 ; Baldassare Hat Trick (Video – post game comments with Danvers coach)

UPDATE – The Danvers Falcons (7-6-0, 6-2-0) broke a 2-all tie with two third period goals by Brett Baldassare to down the Winthrop Vikings (6-4-3, 5-3-0), 4 to 2.

Winthrop’s J.D. Parker opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at 3:45 of the first, before Baldassare tied the game on a power play at 11:32 with Cal Mansfield getting the assist, making it 1-1 after 1.

Winthrop’s senior captain, Mike Brooks, put the Vikings out in front 2-1 (Parker, Joey Holgerson with the assists) with a power play goal at 11:33 of the second; but, Mansfield scored an unassisted goal at 13:10 to tie it up.  So, it was 2-2 after 2.

Baldassare netted the game winner (assist to Holgerson) at 10:14, and then added an empty netter (assists to Mansfield and Michael Papamecail) to bring the final score to 4-2, Falcons.

Danvers plays Marblehead at the Bourque on Saturday at 8:20 p.m., while Winthrop hosts Beverly at 1:30 p.m on Saturday

BEVERLY – The Winthrop Vikings (6-3-3, 3-2-1) visit the Danvers Falcons (6-6-0, 5-2-0) at 4 p.m. today at the Bourque Arena on the campus of Endicott College.  The Vikings are 3-0-1 in their last 4 games, while the Falcons have won 5 of their last 6 games.
