MANCHESTER-BY-THE SEA – Kim Provost has been selected as Principal of Essex Elementary School, effective July 1. Provost began her career with the district over a decade ago in 2012, and currently serves as Dean of Students and K-8 Social Emotional Learning Coordinator at Manchester Essex Regional Middle School.
Superintendent Beaudoin said that, “Through her work as a behavioral specialist, Kim has demonstrated her ability to create environments where staff are supported and students can undertake authentic learning using differentiated pedagogy and instructional practice.”
“I’m excited about the strengths that Kim brings to this role, including strong communication skills, a collaborative leadership style, a focus on student-centered learning, and experience in teaching across both elementary and middle school levels,” Superintendent Beaudoin said.
Principal Provost looks forward to starting her new role saying that, “I recognize that I have big shoes to fill, but I feel as though I’ve been preparing for this role my entire career. Special education taught me that there’s no one-size-fits-all model for working with people, and I intend to bring that type of progressive leadership-style to this new role.”
“I thank all of the staff, parents, and students who’ve supported me throughout my journey, and I look forward to consulting with the community soon regarding the details of my 100-day entry plan,” Provost said.
Provost will develop a 100-day entry plan detailing key milestones such as pre-work preparation, a schedule of staff interviews, tasks by month, and inquiry questions.
The school will share the plan with the community. Provost then will meet stakeholder groups starting in the summer and invite feedback that will help guide future decisions.
