Ipswich lost vs Lynnfield

21-25, 23-25, 11-25
We gave 100% effort our first two matches and came so close to a win – I am very proud of the never give up attitude shown by our team.  Lauren Kennedy played a strong middle position with excellent consistent serving.  Meghan O’Connor was everywhere on the court making multiple back row kills and excellent passes.  Mikayla Keorber set accurately and had numerous digs and Lilly Sheridan did well communicating passing as the libero.

Coach’s Comments:

This was a difficult course on a hot day and while the times were slow I think there is quite a bit to take away from this meet. We have been doing quite a bit of work on hills and that was a strong point for us but this was a very talented Triton team that had depth that we just didn’t match today. That being said I’m very proud of everyone who toughed it out in the race.

BEVERLY – Rachel Hanna’s (Chelmsford, Mass.) goal with just over one minute to play in the second overtime period lifted Endicott to a 3-2 win over Babson on Wednesday night.
Hanna was able to bury a rebound that was created by Catherine Elkas’ (Holden, Mass.) shot that was saved and poked off the cross-bar, which Hanna then one-timed into the back of the net for her second tally of the match. The goal was Hanna’s ninth of the season while the assist was Elkas’ first.

SALEM —  Salem State defeated Framingham State for the first time since 2004, sweeping the Rams behind the stellar play of junior Jasmine Severino (Lawrence, Mass.), who recorded a match-high 10 kills and six blocks. The Vikings improve to 8-6 and 2-1 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) while the Rams dip to 5-10 and 2-1 in conference

Before the match, Salem State honored junior setter Mackenzie Salls, who recorded her 1,000th career assist, in a win over Emmanuel last week.

The Vikings, who have not won a set against Framingham State since 2005, turned the tables, by pulling out a close first set win to key the sweep. Leading 21-20, Salem State received back-to-back service aces from Maddi O’Connor (Hamilton, Mass.) to help propel the Vikings to a 25-21 victory.
Set two was another tightly contested match as the Vikings built a 16-13 lead. However, Framingham State rallied and a block and kill by Brandey Rodriguez (Lawrence, Mass.) gave the Rams a 17-16 lead. Once again the Vikings dug in scored the final four points of the set to take game two 25-23.
Back-to-back blocks by Severino gave Salem State a 15-13 lead in set three. A block and two kills by Rodriguez drew Framingham State to within a point at 19-18, but once again Salem State held firm as kills by O’Connor and Severino broke a 22-all tie before Salem State completed the victory by a 25-22 margin.
O’Connor finished with five aces for the Vikings while Mackenzie Salls (Turners Falls, Mass.) added 19 assists and three aces. Hannah Mullarkey (Salem, Mass.) and Morgan Adams (Scotia, N.Y.) combined for 30 digs while Samantha Chaisson (Duxbury, Mass.) contributed 11.
Rodriguez topped the Rams with nine kills and five blocks. Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, Mass.) added 28 assists and Victoria Anderson (Attleboro, Mass.) had 19 digs and Alexandra Fish (Lincoln, R.I) 16 digs for Framingham State, which outhit Salem State, garnering 35 kills on 121 attempts (.091%).
