Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School’s Athletic Department announced that Emily Leland will take over as its new Head Varsity Girl’s Lacrosse Coach. The announcement was made just moments ago when she was introduced in a meeting with returning players.
Coach Leland gained coaching experience through her time with Charlestown Lacrosse and, most recently, as a coach in the Hamilton-Wenham Youth Lacrosse program.Coach Leland has quite a pedigree in the sport of Lacrosse. She was a four-year Varsity player at Washington and Lee University in Virginia under Coach Jan Hathorn, who was just recently inducted into the Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Hall of Fame. In her Senior year, Coach Leland helped lead the Generals (it was meant to be) to an Old Dominion Athletic Conference Title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Prior to college, Coach Leland played for the winningest coach in the history of New Jersey Women’s Lacrosse, Deanna Knobloch, at traditional power, Moorestown High School.
Coach Leland takes over for Abby Schibli, who stepped down after last season so she could watch her children play in college.
Coach Leland has earned a double major in Psychology and Sociology / Anthropology and has worked in International Education at EF Education and for the non-profit, Council on International Educational Exchange. She is currently a copywriter at Leland Creative Marketing in Beverly.
