Mike Flynn has been named football coach at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School. The former Baltimore Raven and 11-year NFL veteran spent five successful seasons guiding the varsity football team at Pingree School before spending last year as an assistant at Masconomet.
“Mike certainly has a football pedigree as a player and coach that positions him to be an excellent football coach anywhere he goes,” said Athletic Director Craig Genualdo. “More than that, Mike has an established connection with our football players, an understanding of our community, and a passion to create a culture around football at a time that coincides perfectly with the opening of our new athletic complex.”
Prior to working at Masconomet last season, Flynn guided the Pingree Highlanders from 2018-23. During those five seasons (there was no season in the Fall of 2020 due to COVID), Flynn compiled a record of 37-8-2, including three first-place finishes in the Evergreen Division of the NEPSAC.
Flynn was signed out of the University of Maine (where he is a member of their Hall of Fame) by the Ravens in 1997. After spending parts of that first season with the Ravens, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Jacksonville Jaguars, Flynn was re-signed by the Ravens in 1998. Over the next 10 years, Flynn became a mainstay on the offensive line and earned a Super Bowl ring in 2000 when the Ravens defeated the Giants, 34-7, in Super Bowl XXXV.
