Gloucester: Recycling & Trash Collection Update

The City of Gloucester is providing an update on the ongoing recycling and trash collection disruption caused by the labor stoppage involving Republic Services.
To support residents during this time, the Department of Public Works will reopen the temporary recycling drop-off site this Saturday, July 19, from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM (hard stop at 2:00 PM).
📍 Location: 28 Poplar Street
🚫 Gloucester residents only — no commercial drop-offs
👷 DPW staff will be on-site to assist
If you’re able, please consider helping neighbors—especially those without transportation—who may need assistance getting their recyclables to the site.
While the City is not part of the contract negotiations between Republic Services and Teamsters Local 25, we continue to press Republic to meet its obligations. Gloucester has joined five other communities in filing a nuisance complaint against Republic to help hold the company accountable.
We appreciate the professionalism and hard work of our DPW staff during this disruption, and we thank all residents for your continued patience and cooperation.
