Gloucester Police Department Charges Man with Fentanyl Distribution

GLOUCESTER – Chief Edward Conley reports that the Gloucester Police Department, acting in response to numerous complaints, obtained a search warrant for a Main Street apartment and arrested a Gloucester man on drug distribution charges.

LEO SIDELINGER, AGE 69, OF GLOUCESTER, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Fentanyl with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of Crack Cocaine with Intent to Distribute
  • Distribution of Fentanyl
  • Possession of a Class B Substance (Three Counts)

On Wednesday, March 19, several members of the Gloucester Police Department served a search warrant for an apartment at 284 Main St., which was obtained as a result of a lengthy investigation that included controlled drug purchases.

Inside the apartment, which belongs to SIDELINGER, police found amounts of crack cocaine and fentanyl packaged for distribution, as well as drug paraphernalia and a small amount of cash.

SIDELINGER was taken into custody at the scene, and arraigned Thursday in Gloucester District Court.

“Community members and business owners have made their concerns about drug use and public intoxication in this area known to Gloucester Police, and we have taken action in response,” said Chief Conley. “This arrest is the result of the hard work of detectives committed to resolving some of these community problems.”
