Gloucester Police Chief John McCarthy: Barricaded Suspect is Now Getting the Help He Needs

GLOUCESTER – A tense situation ended peacefully in Gloucester at just before 5:30 p.m. when a man who had barricaded himself in a residence for several hours, threatening to harm himself, surrendered to police without incident.  No one was hurt.

The Gloucester Police Department and the Northeast Law Enforcement Council were on scene at 6 Munsey Lane after a distraught mother had called police saying her son was despondent, had weapons, and was threatening to harm himself.

The peaceful resolution by law enforcement officials ended with an ALL CLEAR signal at just before 5:30 p.m. with Munsey Lane residents assured that the area was safe for residents to move about.

The Gloucester Fire Department was also on scene during the situation in support.
