Gloucester Police and Fire Respond to Motor Vehicle Crash Involving Bicyclist

GLOUCESTER — Police Chief Edward Conley and Fire Chief Eric Smith report that the Gloucester Police and Fire Department responded to a crash involving a bicyclist on Monday morning.

 

On Monday, Sept. 8, at approximately 9:25 a.m., Gloucester Police and Fire responded to 891 Washington St., for reports that a bicyclist that had been struck by a motor vehicle.

 

Upon arrival, first responders observed the bicyclist, a 63-year-old female, suffering from serious injuries. She was transported to an area hospital via medical helicopter for further treatment of her injuries.

The driver was transported to an local hospital for evaluation.

 

“I would like to commend our crews for their quick actions and diligent work in caring for the patients on scene and getting them transported to the appropriate facilities,” said Chief Smith.

 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Gloucester Police.
