GLOUCESTER — Chief Eric Smith reports that the Gloucester Fire Department responded to and extinguished a house fire early Saturday morning.

On Saturday, April 5 at approximately 3:31 a.m., Gloucester Fire responded to 12 Rockholm Road for reports of a possible brush fire. While responding to the scene, dispatch updated crews that there was a structure that was engulfed.

Upon arrival, crews observed heavy smoke and flames coming from a home and declared a working fire. Firefighters immediately began an aggressive exterior attack, knocking down most of the fire.

Venting from a propane tank on the property significantly added to the heavy flames.

There were no reported injuries. The home was damaged extensively.

This was a seasonal home and had not yet been reopened for the spring/summer season.

Beauport Ambulance and Rehab 5 responded to the scene. Rockport Fire provided station coverage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Gloucester Fire and the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
