GLOUCESTER — Chief Eric Smith reports that the Gloucester Fire Department extinguished a house fire on Thursday morning.

On Thursday, March 27, at about 10:07 a.m., Gloucester Fire was dispatched to 27 Old County Road for reports of smoke inside a home.

Once on scene, responding crews observed smoke showing from the home’s exterior siding.

Crews quickly worked to extinguish the flames in the rough access conditions and were able to knock down the bulk of the fire by 10:30 a.m.

Crews remained on scene performing overhauling operations until about 11:45 a.m.

All residents of the home were able to evacuate on their own. No injuries were reported.

Residents are expected to be able to return to the home.

Rockport Fire provided station coverage during this incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Gloucester Fire Department.

“We are very fortunate that the homeowners were home at the time of this incident and reported it quickly so that we could prevent this fire from spreading,” said Assistant Chief Robert Rivas. “Our crews did an excellent job navigating the scene to access the fire and knock it down quickly.”
