GLOUCESTER — Fire Chief Eric Smith reports that the Gloucester Fire Department extinguished a house fire on Viking Street this morning. |
Gloucester Fire was dispatched to 5 Viking St., at approximately 8:40 a.m. for reports of a fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from the second-story windows and a reclining chair on fire on the first floor. |
The fire was brought under control within 13 minutesof crews’ arrival on scene. |
No one was inside the home at the time and no injuries were reported. The house sustained smoke and water damage. City Inspectional Services is determining whether the home is habitable. |
Beauport Ambulance Service provided medical standby at the scene. Station coverage was provided by the Rockport Fire Department. |
Bay View Engine 3, Engine 1, Engine 2, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, Car 2 and Car 3 responded to the scene. |
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Gloucester Fire Department. |
