Gloucester Fire Department Extinguishes Garage Fire on Washington Street – Photos

GLOUCESTER — (Photos) Fire Chief Eric Smith reports that the Gloucester Fire Department extinguished a garage fire on Sunday afternoon.

On Sunday, July 10, at about 2:40 p.m., Gloucester Fire was dispatched to 1046 Washington St. for a report of a fire at a three-car detached garage.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke showing from the structure and they declared it a working fire. Firefighters took over extinguishing the fire from a neighbor, who was wetting it with a garden hose.

Crews brought the fire under control within 15 minutes of arrival on scene.

No one was inside the garage at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The garage sustained damage worth an estimated $30,000.

Responding were Engine 1, Engine 3, Ladder 1 and Rescue 1.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Gloucester Fire Department.
