GLOUCESTER — Chief Eric Smith reports that the Gloucester Fire Department extinguished a fire inside a closet in a two-family home early Sunday morning.

At approximately 12:10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, Gloucester Fire received a report of smoke inside 13 Green St., a two-story, two-family home.

Upon arrival, firefighters located a fire inside a first-floor closet and quickly worked to extinguish the flames. Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to the closet and prevented it from spreading further into the home.

All occupants of the home were able to safely make it outside prior to the arrival of firefighters. No injuries were reported.

Due to smoke damage throughout the home, all residents were displaced.

The Rockport Fire Department provided station coverage while Beauport Ambulance Service was on medical standby.

Gloucester Fire and the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire.
