Girls High School Lacrosse: Gloucester Scores with 5 Seconds Left in Game to Down Revere, 9-8

GLOUCESTER – (Videos) The Gloucester Fishermen defeated the Revere Patriots 9-8 today when Lexi Lucas scored her third goal of the game on a breakaway with just 5 seconds remaining.  Gloucester jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first half before Revere coach Karen Atkinson called a timeout.  That led to 4 straight goals that tied the game, with Gloucester getting a fifth goal to lead 5-4 at the half.  The game was tied at 5, 6, 7 and 8 with Revere maintaining possession for almost the final three minutes.  Stout goal tending by Lilly Kuhns and a swarming defense forced a turnover with 15 seconds left.  An outlet pass sprung Lucas loose as she fired in the game-winner with a blistering overhand shot.  In handing Revere its first league loss of the season, Gloucester improves to 6-1.
