GEORGETOWN — Chief Donald C. Cudmore reports that the Georgetown Police Department has used a new fingerprint machine to identify a wanted man with multiple aliases and warrants after conducting a routine motor vehicle stop yesterday.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., a Georgetown police officer conducted a motor vehicle stop Central Street and subsequently arrested a man who identified himself as FELIX MARRERO, AGE 53, OF LYNN, for unlicensed operation.
While conducting the stop, the officer observed that MARRERO’S information did not match the Registry of Motor Vehicle’s picture or height of the operator.
MARRERO was transported to the Georgetown police station for booking and was fingerprinted using the department’s new LiveScan fingerprint machine, which connects directly to the State Police fingerprint identification system. The machine was purchased through a grant last August.
Through information received from MARRERO’S fingerprints, police discovered he had numerous aliases with different names, dates of birth, and social security numbers. Police located four warrants for MARRERO under the alias names including Unarmed Robbery, Assault, Operating with a Suspended License and Cocaine Trafficking.
MARRERO is charged with Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Giving False Information to a Police Officer. He was held at the Middleton House of Corrections pending his arraignment.
“Thanks to the efforts of the officers involved and Lt. Scott Hatch’s commitment to obtaining a grant for our department to use this advanced technology, we are providing the best possible police services to protect our community,” Chief Cudmore said.
Since the installation of the LiveScan fingerprint machine, Georgetown Police have identified alias information of two arrestees, both of which had warrants for their arrest.
