Boys Tennis
On a very windy day, 7 Marblehead boys tennis players travelled to south Boston to play BC High. BC High won all 5 matches, but not before MHS put up some good resistance. The wind was blowing north-south so on one side the balls flew and the other they stopped dead so it was challenging for both teams but the home team was a little more used to these conditions. The BC JV players came to Seaside Park and BC High took the match 3-2. Congratulations to Tony Gluskin and Matt Friedman for our only two wins of the afternoon.
The varsity results were as follows:
1 Justin Faia lost to Tripoom Jala 6-3, 6-4. Tis was a very close match and both boys played exceptionally well given the challenging wind.
2. Billy Ackerman stepped up and played in second singles losing to senior Aiden Dale 6-0, 6-3. Billy had good shot selection and handled the wind remarkably well but Aidan proved just a little more consistent.
3. Sam Orenstein had his singles debut and played a tough fellow senior, Aleks Lazowski, losing 6-1, 6-3
1st doubles: Garrett Tully and Jack Quigley faced a good team in Roy Platteel and Dan Golden, losing 6-0, 6-0.
2nd doubles: Seniors Mike Conlin and Luke Fobert had some excellent points but lost to fellow seniors Dan Coates and Trevor Wakefield 6-2, 6-2.
In the JV match, BC only had 6 players so they played 4 singles and 1 doubles under the direction of JV Coach Sharen Solomon
Adam Sherf played Greg Hamel and Greg Hamel won 6-4,1-6, 6-1
Tony Gluskin played Jason Farmer and Tony won 6-0, 6-1
Mason Friedman played Dattu Kalluri and Mason won 6-2, 6-2
Harry Dolin played Alex Foster and Alex Foster won 6-1,6-1
Jack Curran/Eric Stammiz played John Goodwin/Justin Tran and John Goodwin/Justin Tran won 6-3, 6-2
