Friday Football Results: Hamilton-Wenham Tops Lynnfield – Post Game Videos – Complete Football Scoreboard (Soccer & Volleyball)

LYNNFIELD – Hamilton-Wenham defeated Lynnfield 35-7 in a key Cape Ann League Baker division game.

Half time is a time for adjustments and HW Jim Pugh and his staff saw something as his undefeated team was locked at 7-7 with undefeated Lynnfield at the half.
The adjustments opened up running space for sophomore Ian Coffey. Coffey’s ground game led the Generals to a 35-7 win over the Pioneers at Pioneer Stadium. A defensive battle in the first half saw Hamilton Wenham take a 7-0 lead when QB Billy Whelan connected with Jake Lanciani for a 15yard TD strike with 6:19 to play in the   half. Lanciani’s kick was good. The Pioneers tied it on their next possesion capping a 71 yard drive with a 23 yard TD throw from Matt Mortellite  to Nick Kinnon. Kinnon’s kick is good and it is tied at the half, 7-7.
The Generals have the ball to start the second half, QB Whelan has a 3 yard TD run on fourth and goal to cap a 48 yard drive. With Lanciani’s kick good, Hamilton Wenham takes a 14-7 lead and doesn’t look back. The drive is keyed by Coffey’s 32 yards on 6 carries.
Hamilton Wenham recovers a Pioneer fumble on the next po  at the 42. Cam Peach makes a 21 yard TD run. With Lanciani’s kick good, the Generals lead 21-7.
The Generals close out the third quarter with a 72 yard TD drive on the strength of Coffey’s 69 yards on 4 carries,including a 10 yard TD run with just under 2 minutes to play in the quarter. Lanciani’s kick is good and the score is Hamilton Wenham 28, Lynnfield 7.
Lynnfield’s last drive in the third was stopped by the Generals at the Hamilton Wenham 28. Seven plays later, Phil Durgin’s 40 yard TD reception from Whelan gave the Generals a 34-7 lead. Lanciani’s successful PAT closed out the scoring. Coffey accounted for 27 yards in 3 carries on that drive.
Hamilton Wenham remains undefeated at 3-0 in the Cape Ann Small and 7-0 overall. Lynnfield drops to 3-1 in the conference and 6-1 overall.

The Generals outshot Rockport 17-0, but couldn’t get anything by junior goalie Alex Arndt.
The Generals (3-9-4) finish up their season on Tuesday at home against Georgetown.
