Downtown Essex and downtown Manchester-by-the-Sea took a hit from the COVID-19 pandemic, but businesses and the Towns are making plans for a better future, and they would like to discuss those plans with residents at a virtual public forum later this month.
To learn more about the Towns’ Rapid Recovery Plan, and to provide your feedback, please participate in the public forum on Sept. 29, at 7 p.m.
The forum will share the findings of the plan and the top project recommendations — a set of actions the towns can take to improve the downtowns and stimulate recovery from the impacts of COVID-19.
This meeting is part of the Towns’ Rapid Recovery Plan effort. The RRP Program is a coordinated statewide effort to help downtowns and commercial areas recover and thrive. Essex and Manchester-by-the-Sea jointly received a grant from the RRP Program to participate in the program. The RRP plan is an actionable, project-based recovery plan tailored to the unique economic challenges and COVID-19 related impacts in the commercial centers of Essex and Manchester-by-the-Sea.
The project is being led by a committee of town employees and officials, business owners, chamber of commerce and merchant group representatives, and residents from both communities with assistance from Dodson & Flinker, a planning consulting firm hired by the RRP program.
