Essex D.A.: Peabody Man Charged with Manslaughter in Death of Sister

Alban Dobra, 39 of Peabody has been charged with Manslaughter stemming from a New Year’s Day assault on his sister that resulted in her death, Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker and Peabody Police Chief Thomas M. Griffin announced.

On January 1, 2024, at 1722 hours, Peabody Police responded to a medical emergency at 3 Esquire Drive in Peabody. On scene, Peabody Police located Mimoza Sawtelle, DOB: 12/5/1969 with serious head trauma in front of the single-family home.

Dobra attempted to eject his two sisters from his house and while doing so, he grabbed his sister, Mimoza Sawtelle, and pushed her off the front steps onto a walkway below. Mimoza Sawtelle’s head struck the paved walkway causing serious head trauma. She was transported for medical treatment and subsequently died from her injuries on January 5, 2024.

Dobra was arrested the night of the incident and initially charged with A&B With Dangerous Weapon, Serious Bodily Injury.  He was arraigned on January 2nd and ordered held without bail.  Judge Barretto arraigned Dobra today on the upgraded charge of Manslaughter.  Dobra is due back to court on 01/12/2024 for a Detention Hearing. He was represented by Attorney John Lalikos.

Dobra is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
