Essex D. A.: Alvarez-Pimentel of Lawrence Arraigned for Methuen Drug Trafficking, Firearms Violations

SALEM, Kelvin Alvarez-Pimentel, 36, was arraigned in Essex County Superior Court in Salem on drug trafficking and firearms violation charges, the Office of Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker announced. Alvarez-Pimentel is charged with trafficking in more than 36 grams of fentanyl, two counts of trafficking in cocaine (more than 18 grams in powdered form and more than 36 grams in crack form), and possession of a firearm without a firearm identification card.

Alvarez-Pimentel was arrested at his Lawrence residence on October 31, 2024 in the wake of an investigation by the Methuen Police Street Crimes Unit and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Upon executing the arrest warrant, officers reported finding bags containing fentanyl and cocaine as well as a nine-millimeter handgun, 50 rounds of ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and more than $15,000 in cash. Alvarez-Pimentel was indicted by a grand jury on December 12, 2024.

Assistant District Attorney Mary Eileen Spano represented the Commonwealth at the arraignment before the Hon. Salim Tabit. The defendant, who pled not guilty to all charges, was represented by attorney William R. Sullivan, Jr. Alvarez-Pimentel is scheduled to return to court for a bail hearing on Tuesday, March 18.
