NAHANT — Chief Timothy Furlong reports that the Nahant Police Department arrested a Lynn man for operating under the influence after driving on a beach.
ANGEL MONTAS, 21, of LYNN, was arrested and charged with:
- Operating Under the Influence of Liquor
- Assault with a Dangerous Weapon on a Person Over the Age of 60
- Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
- Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Disorderly Conduct
- Resisting Arrest
- Operating a Motor Vehicle with Window Obstructed/Non-transparent
- Marked Lanes Violation
- No Inspection/Sticker
- Number Plate Violation
On Thursday, Dec. 26, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Nahant Police responded to the Nahant Beach Reservation for a report of a vehicle on the sand doing doughnuts on Long Beach.
The preliminary investigation indicates that MONTAS made multiple trips onto the beach, operating at a high rate of speed in the vicinity of several pedestrians, doing doughnuts, and driving into the ocean.
No pedestrians were injured during the incident.
MONTAS was arrested after an on-scene investigation.
MONTAS was arraigned Friday in Lynn District Court. He is due back in court on Jan. 23 for a pre-trial hearing.
